Rock Gods

When I was first getting started playing D&D, the friend who got me started, God curse his soul I might have done something with my life, mentioned having played with a person by the name of Mitch Wong. This would be wholly unremarkable if it were not for the description of the world in which this game to place. In Mitch’s world KISS were gods, and things like the Stairway to Heaven existed. Yes, Gene Simmons, AKA Demon, a god.

This really struck me as how the game should be played. Your world was what you made, and you invented it. Everything was invented. Of course you had your orcs and goblins, but if you had a powerful wizard NPC named Jimmy Page so be it!

I really like this idea. Sadly I never met Mitch Wong, and so did not get to play in his world, which may have ruined the experience, as is I have the perfect vision of it. Of course it made me think I should mine the world of rock for some names and inspirations, drawing heavily on my high school era listening habits this would include a lot of Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Yes, and Led Zeppelin.

A few of my favorite ideas are The Flaming Telepaths, and Harvester of Eyes. These are from Blue Oyster Cult. Heck, Blue Oyster Cult is a great name. Angus Young, or maybe Angus the Younger could be a good name for a dwarf.

I put sons of Kyuss on the list, which I suppose isn’t fair, because the band took the name from the monster manual.

Here is a list of things that sounded good.
